W latach 70-tych Rolfe Mills zainspirowany podróżą do portugalskiej doliny Douro zasadził jedne z pierwszych winorośli w regionie, eksperymentując z kilkoma rzędami na stromym zboczu nad rodzinnym domem.

Pionierskie wysiłki Rolfe'a były kontynuowane przez jego syna Nicka, który jest również byłym mistrzem olimpijskim w narciarstwie.
