Słoweńskie wina

Słoweńskie wina mogą być mało znane poza ich ojczyzną, ale kraj ten ma ponad 28 000 winnic, które produkują głównie pyszne białe wina z lokalnych odmian winogron. Uprawa winorośli w Słowenii sięga czasów starożytnych plemion celtyckich i iliryjskich, które rozpoczęły uprawę winorośli w IV i V wieku p.n.e.. Słoweńskie odmiany winogron

Najważniejsze odmiany białego wina to Istrian Malvasia, Rebula, która we Włoszech znana jest również jako Ribolla Gialla, oraz Furmint. Słoweńskie białe wina są zwykle eleganckie i orzeźwiające z dużą ilością kwasowości, chociaż Furmint jest również używany do produkcji intensywnych i bogatych win deserowych. W przypadku win czerwonych popularna jest głęboko zabarwiona odmiana Refosco, a także Zametovka, która jest drugim najczęściej sadzonym czarnym winogronem i jest tradycyjnie używana do produkcji Cvicek. Słoweńskie wina dobrze komponują się z wędzonymi i peklowanymi mięsami, wieprzowiną i grillowanymi rybami.
