A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Rodzina Kozlovic założyła swoją winnicę na Istrii w 1904 roku, a dziś jest ona prowadzona przez Gianfranco i Antonellę Kozlovic, którzy opiekują się około 25 hektarami winnic obsadzonych lokalnymi odmianami. Para nieustannie dąży do produkcji jak najlepszych win, szanując jednocześnie dziedzictwo i historię swojej ziemi. Łączą tradycyjne techniki produkcji wina z nowoczesnym sprzętem i know-how, aby produkować charakterystyczne wina, które są bardzo popularne w Chorwacji i poza nią.
    To przepyszne białe wino jest wytwarzane z Malvazija, lokalnej nazwy odmiany winogron Malvasia. Winogrona pochodzą wyłącznie z pojedynczej winnicy Santa Lucia, która została posadzona w 1962 roku na najwyższej jakości glebach wapiennych i gliniastych. Rodzina starannie zbiera winogrona ręcznie, a fermentacja i dojrzewanie odbywa się w drewnianych beczkach o pojemności 32 hektolitrów. Młode wino spędza 12 miesięcy starzejąc się w tych beczkach przed przeniesieniem do neutralnych zbiorników przed butelkowaniem. Ostatnim krokiem jest kolejne 12 miesięcy starzenia w butelce przed wypuszczeniem na rynek.
    Rezultatem jest bardzo złożone białe wino, które ma doskonały potencjał starzenia dzięki długiemu procesowi dojrzewania. W nosie wyczuwalne są intensywne nuty kwiatowe wraz z dojrzałymi brzoskwiniami, morelami i karmelem. Pierwszy łyk ujawnia jasną kwasowość, średnie ciało i gładką, dobrze zaokrągloną teksturę z bogatymi smakami owoców tropikalnych, które pozostają na języku.

    This mouthwatering white wine is crafted from Malvazija, the local name for the Malvasia grape variety. The family attentively harvest their grapes by hand with fermentation and maturation taking place in 32 hectolitre wooden barrels. The young wine spends 12 months ageing in these casks before transferring to neutral tanks prior to bottling. The final step is another 12 months spent ageing in the bottle before release. The result is a very complex white wine which has excellent potential for ageing thanks to the lengthy maturation process. On the nose there are intense floral notes along with ripe peaches, apricots and caramel. The first sip reveals a bright acidity, medium body, and smooth, well-rounded texture with rich tropical fruit flavours which linger on the tongue
