Winiarnia Bonny Doon została założona w 1983 roku przez niezależnego winiarza Randalla Grahma, który studiował filozofię, zanim zakochał się w winie i uzyskał dyplom z uprawy winorośli na UC Davis. Grahm stał się później znany jako "Strażnik Rodanu" ze względu na swoje zaangażowanie we wprowadzanie w Kalifornii klasycznych odmian i mieszanek Rodanu, w tym mieszanek GSM lub Grenache, Syrah i Mourvedre.
